Geography: Nearly completely surrounded by the Bitterroot National Forest including the Sapphire Mountains to the east and the Bitterroot Mountains to the west.   Florence bordered on the east side by the Bitterroot River.

Transportation: Florence is located on Highway 93 between Missoula and Stevensville. Missoula is 16 miles to the north, and Stevensville is 9 miles south.  Missoula International Airport is located in west Missoula.

Weather:   Average high temperature in the summer ranges from 75° in June, 85° in July, and 83° in August, with average lows in the high 40s.  June usually has the most rainfall with an average of 1.6 inches.  The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 34° in December, 33° in January, and 40° in February, with average lows in the high teens.  The average snowfall in December and January is 6 inches.
