Geography: West Yellowstone is bounded on the west by the Targhee, Gallatin, and Beaverhead National Forests; and on the east by Yellowstone National Park.  The Gallatin River flows near town, with the Madison River and Yellowstone River a short drive away. Hebgen Lake and Quake Lake are just minutes north of town.

Transportation: West Yellowstone is located near the end of Hwy 191 and Hwy 287 at the junction of Hwy 20. Highway 20 enters Yellowstone National Park at the west entrance.  Bozeman is 90 miles north along Hwy 191.  West Yellowstone does have a local Airport with service from SkyWest Airline.

Weather:  Average high temperature in the summer ranges from 68° in June, 80° in July, and 77° in August, with average lows in the mid to upper 30s.  June usually has the most rainfall with an average of 2.3 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 25° in December, 24° in January, and 30° in February, with average lows in the low single digits. The average snowfall in December and January is 30 inches.
