Geography: Townsend rests south of Ferry Lake, nestled between
the Elkhorn Mountains to the west, and the Big Belt Mountains to the east.
The Missouri River flows just west of town.
Transportation: Townsend is located along Hwy 287 at the
junction of Hwy 12. Three Forks, MT is approximately 30 miles south
located at the Junction of Interstate 90 and Hwy 287. Helena has the
closest airport approximately 37 miles northwest of Townsend.
