Geography: On the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountain Front, Choteau is close to the Lewis and Clark National Forest, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and the Great Bear Wilderness.  Southeast of town is Freezeout Lake Waterfowl Refuge, Pine Butte Swamp is west of town. The Teton River flows south of town.

Transportation: Located on US Hwy 89 and the junction of US Hwy 287.  Great Falls International Airport is 62 miles southeast along Hwy 89.

Weather:  Average high temperature in the summer ranges from 73° in June, 82° in July, and 81° in August, with average lows in the high 40s to low 50s.  June usually has the most rainfall with an average of 2.8 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 38° in December, 34° in January, and 38° in February, with average lows in the low to mid teens.  The average snowfall in December and January is 6 inches.
