ABOUT US

Montana OutdoorsDirectory  is headquartered in Somers, Montana.  We are a small business with a focus on providing information about outdoor activities in Montana for those living here and visitors.

Montana has always been part of me.  Born in Kalispell, I spent the first twenty years of my life experiencing how life is suppose to be.  Summers were spent sleeping out under the stars in our backyard, riding our bikes to Flathead Lake, rock hounding for iron pyrite in the cliffs behind the house, and going on camping and fishing trips around northwest Montana.  Fall didn't slow our pace much; we'd spend our weekends on the old logging roads out of Lakeside, falling trees for winter firewood.  Hunting season was about providing meat for the year, so it wasn't uncommon for our folks to leave us for days in hopes of returning with a couple deer, or even an elk.  I never got used to deer hanging up-side-down in our garage, but I sure enjoyed watching my Dad skin them.  Winter was a time for sledding, cross country skiing, and hauling firewood inside.  Spring was spent burning the hills around our house; climbing trees to look at new members of our local bird family, and bringing bundles of wildflowers home to my mom.   I left Montana when I went to College in Oregon and all I could think about was just how great Montana really was.  I only hope we can share that greatness with you.

Aaron moved to Montana from Minnesota when he was seven years old.  His family made a home in Bigfork.  Growing up in a hunting family meant going with Dad on hunts down the Swan.  Once Aaron turned twelve, he spent every day after school during hunting season sitting on a rock in the woods behind his house with his bow.  After spooking numerous bucks that season, everything finally came together and he got his first deer, a nice doe.  Needless to say, since then Aaron has discovered what a passion he has for hunting.

Growing up in hunting and fishing families introduced us to so many experiences in the outdoors, and now we carry those experiences into our lives together.  We moved to Alaska after we we're married, and to make a long story short, we met David and Linda Johnson of the Alaska Outdoors Directory.  We had been using this great resource to learn the ins and outs of Alaska, and found it very helpful.   It is our hope that we can provide such a resource for Montana.  We hope everyone who finds Montana Outdoors Directory can take something with them when they leave and maybe even leave something for the next person searching for a new experience in "The Last Best Place".

MontanaOutdoorsDirectory.com is managed by two of us.  Aaron works with graphics, he's in charge of our bookstore, and he is my main support.  We have great support from our affiliate website in Alaska
